Inclusion in Normative Life Pathways While Capitalizing on Community Capacity: Illustration of a forty-year theory and practice that emerged from a critique of SRV

While building on higher order normalization/SRV principles, this approach or theory, Inclusion in Normative Life Pathways while Capitalizing on Community Capacity, differs on the principle means to a good life as conceptualized by SRV.  It is primarily focused on families and generic community services; not human services.  This presentation will provide an overview of the approach, its development and implementation with families across many varied community contexts for over four decades.  It has been applied in the lives of thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families, generic services that range from early childhood to adulthood, from education to employment, from recreation to home, and a provincial advocacy organization.  This presentation will look at the high probability that there is more than one avenue by which to contest devaluation, prevent and address its wounds, and enable a good life.
